We're already a fan of Julia!

As a lifelong fan of Sesame Street, and with an interest in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the coupling of both topics has topped off the week for the Domin8 Designs team.

We're already a fan of Julia!

"What do we talk about with autism? There's such a range..." says Christine Ferraro, screenwriter for Sesame Street.

What we really love about both Julia and the approach by the TV show is that, it doesn't try to translate everything associated with ASD in one character.

It is about picking up that one lane of autism, and the way that Julia interacts with, but importantly, is respected by the other characters. It's unreserved, it's honest... and we think that's great.

If nothing else, Julia is a part of the gang, and while she may do things a little differently to Elmo and Big Bird - that's okay!

Having spend the previous weekend at the Lend A Hand For Hugo All Star Bash and spending some time with Hugo, who lives with ASD - having such a prominent show bring to light the honesties around the way autism can affect an individual is a big step up.

It may have been twenty years or so since we last watched the program - but move over Netflix, Sesame Street is back!
